Kangaroo" Keeshan, Tipper Gore, Terry Hershey, Will Campbell, and five well-known Christian musicians.
Since 1972, The United Methodist Church has struggled with a variety of understandings of homosexuality as it relates to who we are as faithful Christians. Recently, church legislators strongly encouraged its agency on Christian Unity and Interreligious Concerns (CUIC) to develop resources that help United Methodists talk with civility about their different views of homosexuality in an open atmosphere where unity and understanding could grow. DVD resource does not present solutions to divisions over the issue of homosexuality but provides a usable tool to keep the conversation going.

This four-session video raises a lot of issues about sexuality and puberty. The video's overall positive message is "Sex is a gift from God."
This fast-paced, colorful video will keep junior highers interested. The best part of the video, which appears in session four, highlights sincere comments from teenagers about sex. Many had been sexually active. The four-page student guide teaches young people to handle several dating situations and helps junior highers understand what the Bible says about their sexuality. The leaders guide presents lots of options: programming ideas for 30-, 60- and 90-minute sessions, small or large groups. And it explains the issue's sensitivity and warns that kids could react to the subject in different ways.

This is a two-hour cinema verite of the First United Methodist Church of Germantown. Filmmaker Alan and Susan Raymond spent two years capturing the life of the congregation as they struggled to accept a newly appointed minister while at the same time supported their ordained lesbian associate pastor as she prepared for a clergy trial. It is a complex portrait of a Protestant church moving into the 21st century. (1VHS; Co-production of Video Vérité and WETA Washington DC, 2004)

This video tape was made as one result of the project mandated to the General Commission on Christian Unity and Interreligious Concerns (GCCUIC) by 2000 General Conference concerning the challenging issue of homosexuality and the unity of the church. Two speakers representing differing points of view were invited to make presentations to the bishops. Then followed a candid discussion among bishops. For the sake of the conversation, the decision was made not to videotape the actual consultation. However, bishops were invited to speak on camera about the consultation and their experience of it.
This video with the printed guide book was designed to help discussion groups engage in informal dialogue about the role of religion institutions in America today by providing thought-provoking questions, articles written by experts, background material, and an extensive list of follow-up resources. The materials provided are intended to provide a framework for both clergy and lay leaders to explore the issues presented with the goal of improving and enhancing congregational life.
Recommend to use after watching "The Congregation" (DVD0071).
Does God really condemn loving homosexual relationships? Is the chasm separating Christianity from gays and lesbians too wide to cross? Is the Bible an excuse to hate? These questions and more are raised in this documentary as it chronicles the stories of five Christian, American families- including those of former House Majority Leader Richard Gephardt and Episcopal Bishop Gene Robinson. Discover how some people of faith handle the realization of having a gay child or family member, the painful experiences they navigate through, and the peace they find in coming to terms with their own misconceptions.
