CAN WE TALK? TAPE 1: CHRISTIAN CONVERSATIONS ABOUT HOMOSEXUALITY

DVD0278
Since 1972, The United Methodist Church has struggled with a variety of understandings of homosexuality as it relates to who we are as faithful Christians. Recently, church legislators strongly encouraged its agency on Christian Unity and Interreligious Concerns (CUIC) to develop resources that help United Methodists talk with civility about their different views of homosexuality in an open atmosphere where unity and understanding could grow. DVD resource does not present solutions to divisions over the issue of homosexuality but provides a usable tool to keep the conversation going.

CONVERSATIONS ON HOMOSEXUALITY AND THE UNITY OF THE UMC

VT3065
This video tape was made as one result of the project mandated to the General Commission on Christian Unity and Interreligious Concerns (GCCUIC) by 2000 General Conference concerning the challenging issue of homosexuality and the unity of the church. Two speakers representing differing points of view were invited to make presentations to the bishops. Then followed a candid discussion among bishops. For the sake of the conversation, the decision was made not to videotape the actual consultation. However, bishops were invited to speak on camera about the consultation and their experience of it.

LOVE THE EARTH AND BE HEALED SERIES

We recycle. We car pool. We hear daily about the environment. But just how aware are we of what we do and don't do that hurts the earth and ourselves? Our planet is in trouble because we stopped loving it in order to use it, but we can start loving the earth and creation again. This six-part series proposes that what we love we won't destroy, and that we ourselves will be healed by being reconnected to all that God called good.
