Tape 5 of 6.
During the process of death, communication is not always easy. The stress of illness and death make communication difficult and also more necessary. This program explores ways to improve meaningful communication among families and friends.
Scripture: John 11:25-26.
Recovery from any major loss or life transition – death of a loved one, divorce, aging, unemployment or moving – is a slow and painful journey out of a shadowed valley. We need help from friends, family clergy, congregations and, most of all, from God. These two videos offer practical guidance and counsel from a variety of persons who know the pain of grief personally. Dr. Howard Clinebell, pastoral counselor, and members of a grief group share their insights. (Footage of the grief group is taken from the "Growing Through Grief" series.)
Part 1: This video is designed to help people deal with the agony of loss during the first month or so.
Tape 2 of 6.
Grief is a natural reaction to loss. The loss leaves us broken hearted and it is through our grieving that our spirit mends and our heart is healed. Scripture: Romans 8:38-39.
Tape 12 in Nooma series by Rob Bell.
Suffering the loss of someone we love can be the most difficult thing in life to deal with. One moment we have them and the next they're gone. What are we supposed to do? How are we supposed to feel? The truth is, there's no certain way we're "supposed" to feel. Whatever we're feeling, it's okay. It's okay to feel shock, anger, denial, or whatever we may feel. It's okay. And if we don't feel anything at all, that's okay too. It's okay to have now answers and no explanations. Because sometimes all the reasoning and comforting words in the world just aren't what we need. What might help us, however, is to understand how Jeus dealt with this kind of loss.
