This new approach to confirmation focuses on the key relationship between a confirmand and a mentor. With solid biblical and theological foundations, this 13 session program allow both mentor and confirmand to grow as disciples of Christ. To undergird the need for mentor support in the process, a video has been prepared to accompany the course. This mentor support video provides an introduction to each session, as well as helpful information about the challenges and questions mentors and students will likely bring to each session topic. This video is designed for use in preparation for each session. Each segment offers background information on the session topic together with suggestions about active learning options that mentors may want to use to help prepare them for each session. This is a confirmation program for the next generation created in two sets by a Lutheran pastor, Rev. Hans Wiersma. Pastors are encouraged to modify some of the contents according to UM doctrines and traditions if necessary.
Two sets are: Bible (Old & New Testaments, 2videos each) and Catechism (The Ten Commandments, The Apostle's Creed, The Lord's Prayer, The Sacraments)
Each set includes: 4 video tapes each holding six 5-minute video presentations; 24 double-sided, copy ready worksheets which reinforce lessons, guide students through questions, activities and discussions, and includes a "Bring It Homes" section to be used at home with family; 24 double-sided presentation guides filled with ideas, approaches and activities to assist in the presentation of the lesson; One 20-page "Operator's Manual" to help organize and tailor Road Trip to suit your congregation's particular needs.

This film opens with an interviewer who asks various people, "What is a United Methodist?" Before viewing the film, a brief discussion of our United Methodist identity is recommended. This video is given to the UMC as a gift from the California-Nevada Annual Conference. There are six sessions: 1.Introduction 2.Scripture- the goal of this session will be to take a general look at the scriptures and their meaning. 3.Tradition - What are the traditions of the United Methodist Church and how do they reveal the Word of God to us? 4.Reason - How do we use reason in the discovery of truth?
