This tape tells the story of how globalization policies deprive Honduran farmers of their harvest. This short video traces a shortage of red beans - a staple in the diet of farm families in Honduras - not to a crop failure but to a price adjustment by the International Monetary Fund. Filmmaker Kathy Blair; narrator Bev Thompson. 13min 1995 Church Use Permitted SHALOM LIFESTYLES SERIES FOR YOUTH SERIESThis series strives to bring a vision of shalom - God's word for the way life should fit together. God's vision of Shalom includes all our relationships: with our next-door neighbors, our global neighbors, ourselves, the earth and God. This series addresses different aspects of this vision. The goal of this series is to call youth to commit to a life of shalom that is growing, developing and being filled with a sense of personal joy. Tape 2 of 2. 8. Experiencing God in the Midst of Clutter: Youth need to understand the tie between a personal relationship with God and a life linked with a shalom vision. 9. Heard in Stereotype: You live in a world where people are constantly put into categories. This stereotyping allows people to be easily ignored as an individual or avoided out of fear. 10. Shattering Images (Crossing racial boundaries): An identity with Christ can transform the way we relate to others and gives the power to choose to be nonviolent. 11. Bod by God (Positive Images of Self) 12. When Dates Go Bad (Date Rape): God calls us to loving, compassionate, and respectful relationships. Relationships are not to be built on power, self-fulfillment, or lust. 13. Co-Creators and Caretakers (Acting with God to care for the earth) 14. To Serve For God: Jesus calls each of us to serve. In a world filled with self awareness, self-fulfillment, and selfishness the call to serve seems like an absurd contradiction to the way society advocates living. 15. In Spite of the Odds: Are there Limits to our Commitment? 60min 1992 Church Use Permitted WHOLE PEOPLE, WHOLE EARTH 1

Tape 1 of 2 (7 lessons) 1.The Hunt for Happiness: Youth need to understand God's vision of shalom, which goes far beyond a superficial concept of happiness. 2.Images In a Box: Youth need to learn to "read" television so they can discern the good, the bad, and what can enhance life. 3.Doesn't Everyone want Peace?: Youth live in a world of tension, violence, and mistrust. They need to hear of an alternate way of dealing with their society. 4.Be All You're Meant To Be: Jesus called us to use our bodies and minds to serve God and to follow God's priorities, not to buy into those of our society. 5.The Great Job Search: Youth often question how their faith connects to a chosen occupation and how they really should go about choosing a career. 6.Can the Earth be Healed?: Humanity is called to good stewardship. 7.How Far Would You Go?: In a world that is bombarded with prejudice, hatred and acts of violence, a Christian can offer an alternative lifestyle of peace and love for one's enemies. 60min 1991 Church Use Permitted |
